The Rams are back at home in Week 4 after two weeks on the East Coast, and they’ll be welcoming another NFC East team to SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon. They’ll host the winless New York Giants, led by first-year head coach Joe Judge.

To preview the game, we caught up with Giants Wire editor Dan Benton, who shed some light on the issues New York has had this season, how the running game will proceed without Saquon Barkley and whether the Giants can keep this one close.

1 I know it’s been a rough season for the Giants, but what’s the strength of this team – if there is one?

Let’s see… a strength. That’s a good question. If I were forced to pick an area in which the Giants excel I would have to say special teams. It should come as little surprise that a Joe Judge-coached team that also has Thomas McGaughey as a coordinator would be sound on the third unit, and they are. Punter Riley Dixon is arguably one of the best in the game right now, kicker Graham Gano is nearly automatic, the team’s coverage units are solid and their return game was electric until Jabrill Peppers went down with an ankle sprain.

2 Evan Engram has been quiet this season, and now he faces a defense with quality safeties. What’s gone wrong for him in 2020?

Drops. Inconsistency. Poor route running. Miscommunication. Should I continue? To Engram’s credit, he works extremely hard, but you have to wonder if he’s ever going to put it all together. For someone who is so amazingly and uniquely athletic, you would expect more. He’s a potential game-breaker who may never reach the next level because of injury and the aforementioned inconsistency. Time is running out for him to get it right.

3 Who do you expect to be the lead back for New York this weekend?

With about two weeks of practice under his belt, I would expect Devonta Freeman to take the majority of the team’s carries on Sunday, but you’ll still see a committee approach. The Giants are determined to get Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman involved offensively, so a fair split among the three (as it was in Week 3) is most realistic. Still, of the trio, Freeman appears the most capable of running behind that Swiss cheese of an offensive line, so he’ll likely be the lead dog.

4 Do you expect James Bradberry to follow one receiver around the field or will he stay on one side?

You’ll probably see a little bit of everything from Patrick Graham’s defense, and that includes where James Bradberry lines up. You may seem him travel at times, stay on one side at others and then drop into zone. Graham moves guys around a lot in an attempt to keep opposing offenses off their feet, and that most certainly includes in-game adjustments. The good thing about Bradberry is that he’s capable of doing it all and has fared quite well so far this season.

5 Do you think the Giants can keep this one competitive? What’s your score prediction?

Absolutely not. The Giants are a long, long way from being competitive at this point and injuries to players like Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard, Jabrill Peppers and Xavier McKinney have only compounded that issue. Of course, historically, the Giants tend to win games they should lose and lose games they should win, so anything is possible. Still, if I were a betting man, I’d stay as far away from the Giants as I could. Rams 37, Giants 13
