There are a few quarterbacks widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 8, or had successful Week 7 performances, or could benefit from an injury. With that in mind, here are five quarterbacks with under 50% ownership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up for Week 8.
Week 8 Byes: Washington Football Team, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars
Next up — ATL, @KC, TB, DET, @MIN
The Panthers are riding a two-game losing streak but Bridgewater remains one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL. He ranks fifth in passing yards and only Drew Brees has a better completion percentage. He’s one of two quarterbacks with two top 15 PPR wideouts and will be up against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL in Week 8. Oh, and he gets to face the Falcons awful pass defense in Week 8.
Next up — @SEA, GB@, NO, BYE, @LAR
Garoppolo hasn’t exactly wowed anyone with his 2020 numbers but should get a healthy boost against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8. George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk are more than enough for him to produce against the team that’s given up the second-most passing yard in the NFL.
Next up — @CLE, @LAC, DEN, KC, @ATL
Carr is a middle-of-the-pack quarterback option so far this year but will have some ideal matchups. He threw for 347 yards against a solid Kansas City Chiefs defense in Week 5 and will face two bottom five pass defenses in his next five games. Carr doesn’t have the best receiving corps, but a few role players have filled in nicely alongside Darren Waller as of late.
Next up — LV, BYE, HOU, PHI, @JAX
Mayfield lost Odell Beckham Jr. for the year with an ACL in Week 7 but surprised fantasy owners my putting together his best performance of the season. His five-touchdown performance against the Cincinnati Bengals might not be replicated anytime soon, but being forced to throw to new targets could open up Cleveland’s offense.
Next up — LAR, @ARI, LAC, @DEN, @NYJ
Nobody knows what to expect from Tagovailoa, but he’s certainly worth picking up if you’re struggling at the quarterback position in deeper fantasy leagues. Ryan Fitzpatrick finished as QB15 through Miami’s 3-3 start and Tagovailoa is known for his outstanding accuracy. If Tagovailoa is the better player he could flirt with the top 10 for the remainder of the season. If he shines against the Rams in his first NFL start fantasy owners will surely rush to sign him.
