Greeley cop log: Caller asks cop to hot-wire car after losing keys; man wearing ‘lots of coats’ disturbs fashion store customers - Greeley Tribune

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a summary of crime reports taken from the Greeley Police Department’s daily logs. Only a few of the hundreds of reports will be used in this weekly column because of space limitations.

Feb. 19

2:30 a.m.: A cashier at a convenience store in the 300 block of 71st Avenue reported a man took two energy drinks and threw money at her before walking out and driving off. No items were stolen, but he was aggressive and gave her no time to scan the drinks.

12:45 p.m.: A caller at a fashion store in the 4500 block of CenterPlace Drive reported a man outside wearing “lots of coats” was making customers feel uncomfortable.

5:30 p.m.: A caller at a restaurant in the 5400 block of 11th Street reported a man and woman sitting in a back corner booth seemed off and still hadn’t ordered anything about 30 minutes after sitting down. They were asked to leave.

7:30 p.m.: A woman in the 900 block of 4th Avenue reported someone parked in her husband’s spot on the street. She was told the street is public parking, but didn’t seem to follow.

Feb. 20

12:15 a.m.: A caller in a supermarket parking lot in the 900 block of 47th Avenue lost her keys and requested an officer respond to hot-wire her car to get it started. She was told to get a locksmith.

1 a.m.: A caller in the area of 2nd Street and 13th Avenue reported a shirtless man took off running after a car that struck his mailbox.

2 a.m.: A man in the 1300 block of 45th Avenue reported a raccoon in his window well trying to get through the window.

7:30 p.m.: A caller wanted police to inform her soon-to-be ex-husband the civil papers he had been served were legal. Police advised that’s up to a judge and that they wouldn’t call to tell him that. She responded she was glad they’re “being defunded.”

Feb. 21

3:15 a.m.: A caller in the 1900 block of 7th Avenue reported a suspicious man in the backyard shouting at or about “Nazareth and Jesus.” The power was out, so the caller was afraid to go outside.

11:30 a.m.: Police responded to a parking lot in the area of 20th Street and 35th Avenue, where a man was reported yelling and cussing at people outside a juice shop. His vehicle broke down, and he was yelling and cussing at the car. He said he’d stop.

3 p.m.: A caller in the 2500 block of 1st Avenue reported a bunch of dead ducks in a pile in someone’s yard and wanted to know if it was allowed.

3:30 p.m.: A caller at Glenmere Park reported two people on the island in the middle of the lake were chopping down a tree with a hatchet. The men did not appear to be official.

3:45 p.m.: A caller in the area of 12th Street and 86th Avenue was planning to go “really fast” on longboards and wanted to know if an officer could be on standby in case of a crash.

7 p.m.: A caller at a convenience store in the 4700 block of 10th Street reported a customer came inside threw milk because he was upset about being refused a refund.
