The New Orleans Saints didn’t get Michael Thomas back for their Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers and Emmanuel Sanders was ruled out after testing positive for Covid-19. Drew Brees was able to thrive despite his depleted receiving corps and connected with rookie wideout Marquez Callaway early.
Callaway caught a team-high eight passes for 75 yards on 10 targets. He went down with a leg injury at one point in the contest but appears to be OK and could continue to be a key weapon for Brees in Week 8. Early Sunday reports suggest Thomas could miss at least one more game, and we don’t know how long Sanders will remain on the Covid-19 IR list.
The former undrafted free agent agent is a widely available waiver wire target and is owned in less than one percent of Yahoo fantasy football leagues. His value will drop when Thomas and Sanders return but he appears to have a leg up on Tre’Quan Smith and other members of the Saints’ receiving corps for the time being.
