When the Indianapolis Colts lost starting running back Marlon Mack to a season-ending injury in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the consensus was that Nyheim Hines and rookie Jonathan Taylor would become viable waiver wire options.
Hines, who serves as a change of pack running back, recorded 73 total yards and two touchdowns in place of the injured Mack in Week 1. In terms of fantasy, he scored 19.3 fantasy points, which only spurred on the thoughts of him being a top-waiver wire addition.
But that would not be the case as Taylor went on to become the Colts’ feature back. That being said, the 5-foot-9 Hines re-entered his name into the waiver wire conversation with his performance on Sunday afternoon. Against the Detroit Lions, Hines had three receptions for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
He will not give you a bunch of points in the rushing department as he only had eight yards on five carries. However, he is a mismatch problem for opposing linebackers and is a low-tier option in the FLEX spot for PPR leagues, depending on the matchup. As of right now, Hines is only rostered in only 28 percent of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.
