Last season as a rookie, Hunter Renfrow established himself as one of the Raiders’ top receiving options. He had 49 receptions (71 targets) for 605 yards and four touchdowns. Renfrow was the perfect complement to Tyrell Williams and standout tight end Darren Waller.
In the offseason, the Raiders decided to go on a full-court press to upgrade the wide receiver. For starters, they signed former Eagles wideout Nelson Agholor to a one-year deal. Then in the draft, Las Vegas spent a couple of draft picks on Henry Ruggs in the first round and Bryan Edwards in the third round.
With those additions plus Waller and Williams returning, one could infer that Renfrow would be the odd man out. But that has not been the case this season as the former Clemson wide out is the team’s third best receiver with 31 receptions (41 targets) for 436 yards and two touchdowns.
On Sunday, Renfrow was the team’s leading receiver in Las Vegas’s 43-6 blowout loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The 5-foot-10 wideout had seven receptions (nine targets) for 73 yards. It’s only the third time this season that Renfrow has received eight targets in a game. In those other two games, he had 84 and 57 receiving yards.
That being said, it’s hard to gauge what Renfrow’s value will be fantasy wise as Derek Carr has Waller, Agholor, Ruggs, and running back Josh Jacobs all at his disposal. Renfrow is currently rostered in 18 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues but could be worth a flier .
