Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stand between the Green Bay Packers and a perfect 5-0 start to the 2020 season.

Aaron Rodgers, Matt LaFleur and the rest of the Packers are heading south to take on the 3-2 Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday afternoon. The Packers started the season 4-0, got healthy during the bye week and will now play a nationally televised game against the most accomplished quarterback in NFL history.

To help break down Sunday’s showdown, we sat down with Luke Easterling, the managing editor of Bucs Wire, to get answers to these seven questions:

Adding Tom Brady turned the Bucs into a contender. How's he looked through 5 games?

Bucs Wire: Things have looked a little clunky at times, but overall, Brady has looked like the same player we saw in New England in recent years. Especially considering the fact that he’s learning a new offense, new teammates (many of whom have been injured), and didn’t have a real offseason, Brady has the Tampa Bay offense looking solid. As long as his protection holds up, Brady looks like the same old GOAT.

The Bucs are only allowing 4.9 yards per play on defense. What has made this group so good so far?

Bucs Wire: The Tampa Bay defense takes great pride in stopping the run, and they’ve done it better than any other team in the league dating back to last year. It starts there, with a stout front seven that also knows how to get after the passer and cover plenty of ground in coverage. Losing Vita Vea could be a huge blow to all of that, but there’s still plenty of talent on this defense. The secondary is young, but improving quickly.

Is Pro Bowl WR Chris Godwin going to play?

Bucs Wire: Godwin was limited in practice Thursday, but that’s an improvement, considering he’s missed practice for two weeks now. Things seem to be trending upward for him to be available, and the extra time off should ensure he’s as close to 100 percent as possible.

How big of a loss is DL Vita Vea?

Bucs Wire: It’s huge, both literally and figuratively. Vea is a massive mountain of a man in the middle, and he’s the driving force behind Tampa Bay’s stingy rush defense. Ndamukong Suh and Will Gholston are both playing extremely well this season, but there’s just no replacing perhaps the best nose tackle in the NFL.

Do you see an obvious (or not so obvious) weak spot for the Bucs?

Bucs Wire: Especially after last week’s showing against the Bears, it’s got to be the offensive line. They’re doing a solid job on the ground, but they struggled to protect Tom Brady last week, and they racked up way too many penalties. They need to bounce back in a big way this week if the Bucs want to have success through the air.

Who needs to play well (one offense, one defense) for the Bucs to win?

Bucs Wire: Of offense, it’s about the tackles. Donovan Smith needs to play like a fifth-year starter who has only missed one start in his career, instead of the inconsistent presence he’s been so far this season (and throughout his career, really). Tristan Wirfs finally looked like a rookie for the first time last week, and he’s got another tough test this week. On defense, it’s Rakeem Nunez-Roches, the man who will replace Vea in the middle of the defensive line. He’s a fun-loving trash-talker who is respected by his teammates, but he’ll have to shoulder a different kind of responsibility moving forward.

Prediction time. Do the Bucs halt the Packers' perfect start?

Bucs Wire: I just don’t see that happening. Yes, the Bucs are getting back some key players from injury, but losing Vea is a terrible blow to a rush defense that now has to face one of the NFL’s best ground attacks. Aaron Rodgers is playing at an MVP level, and Tampa Bay’s young secondary could struggle to match wits with him. The Bucs will need to score 30+ to hang with Rodgers and company, and after their offensive showing against Chicago, I just don’t see it happening. Packers 34, Bucs 24.
