Staying ahead of your competition is paramount to your fantasy football success. Between the rash of injuries and all the latest COVID-19 updates, we spend so much time reacting to the latest news that few people are looking beyond this week’s matchups. You need to be smarter than that, and the best way to do it is to settle on this week’s lineup and make roster moves before players lock at the start of Sunday’s games.
With bye weeks in full swing, many fantasy owners are dropping players who are off this week in an effort to potentially fill in gaps on their rosters. Some are dealing with a rash of injuries, but more often than not, they are hoarding players to cater to their indecision.
How many times have you seen someone ask a fantasy analyst a question on social media and wonder why they would even roster some of these players? Well, while they’re fumbling through choices between Dontrelle Inman versus the Cowboys or Andy Isabella against the Seahawks, you can settle on your starting lineup now and scour the waiver wire for drops that shouldn’t have been made.
It takes some gumption to make hard and fast decisions, but rather than keep that third tight end or sixth wide receiver, why not grab J.K. Dobbins off the waiver wire? Though he’s not playing this week, Mark Ingram is expected to miss multiple weeks, which puts Dobbins, a highly-coveted prospect on draft day, in line for more work. If he finds success with increased usage, the competition to acquire him will be immense. Make the move now and you’re ahead of the game.
The Colts have a favorable matchup against the Lions in Week 8, and fantasy owners everywhere are dropping their defense and receivers like Zach Pascal, both productive assets prior to their bye. And though we don’t know how productive Tua Tagovailoa will be, Preston Williams is available and likely to remain a strong target.
The formula is simple: Settle on your Week 7 lineup. Then scour the waiver wire. Grab your Week 8 assets now and dominate.
