ABC News released a statement on Saturday noting that any staff that has been "in direct contact" with Christie will self-isolate for two weeks.
Following news that presidential adviser and ABC News political analyst Chris Christie tested positive for COVID-19, he checked into a hospital on Saturday as a "precautionary measure."
"In consultation with my doctors, I checked myself into Morristown Medical Center this afternoon," tweeted Christie. "While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure."
ABC News released a statement on Saturday noting any staff that has been "in direct contact" with Christie will self-isolate for two weeks.
"This morning Governor Chris Christie announced he tested positive for COVID-19. He was last in our TV3 studio on Tuesday, and he won’t appear in our studio again until he’s cleared by a doctor, following guidance from the CDC and local health officials. Anyone on our staff in direct contact with the Governor as defined by the CDC will self-isolate for 14 days. We wish the Governor a speedy recovery," an ABC News spokesperson shared in a statement.
Christie was an in-studio analyst for the network's presidential debate coverage, and was on-set alongside anchor Linsey Davis, former Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, Democracy for America's Yvette Simpson and GOP strategist Sara Fagen.
The former New Jersey governor tweeted Saturday that he will be receiving medical attention and "will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition." He did not confirm whether he had symptoms.
The last time Christie was with President Donald Trump was Tuesday during preparations for the first debate with former Vice President Joe Biden in Cleveland. He did not attend Trump’s Bedminster fundraiser in New Jersey on Thursday. Christie tweeted Friday morning that he had last tested negative ahead of Tuesday’s debate.
Trump has since tested positive for COVID-19, and was admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday.
