This season, the San Francisco 49ers have dealt with their fair share of injuries at running back, wide receiver, and on defense. However, they somehow plug in a new player, who rises to the occasion and makes his claim on receiving more snaps.
Last week, that player was undrafted running back JaMycal Hasty, and this week that moniker goes to veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. Bourne gets lost in the Niners’ offensive shuffle as they have George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and rookie Brandon Aiyuk, but on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, they were without Samuel, and they lost Kittle late in the fourth quarter.
San Francisco needed someone else to make plays at wide receiver with Aiyuk. Enter Bourne, who had eight receptions for 81 yards. It was the first time since the 2017 season that the veteran wide receiver crossed the 80-yard threshold.
With Samuel likely out for another week and Kittle getting an MRI on Monday, Bourne might be due for another 10 targets. If that’s the case, he’s worth exploring a waiver wire claim. As of now, Bourne is rostered in six percent of Yahoo! fantasy leagues.
