For the first time, this season, Baltimore Ravens rookie running back J.K. Dobbins led the team in carries on Sunday afternoon. Dobbins had 15 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens’ 30-24 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, Gus Edwards and Mark Ingram II combined for five carries on 11 yards.
Furthermore, Dobbins led all Ravens RBs in snaps with 41, while Edwards had 13, and Ingram finished with six. This was a complete 180-degree turn from where the Ravens’ running back situation was just a few weeks ago.
Earlier in the season, the Ravens were using Edwards and Ingram II as their 1-2 combo with Dobbins sprinkled in. However, when Ingram went down with an ankle injury in Week 6, it opened up the door for Dobbins to get more carries.
After the Ravens’ bye in Week 7, Dobbins exploded for a season-high 113 yards on 15 carries against the Steelers. It was the first time this season that he had at least 15 carries. It was also Dobbins’ second best-fantasy performance with 12.1 points. Also, in that game, Edwards had one more carry than the rookie (16) with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown.
That being said, it’s still hard to trust that the Ravens will give Dobbins a significant amount of snaps going forward. As we all know, star quarterback Lamar Jackson plays an instrumental role in their rushing attack, and Baltimore still likes to use Edwards frequently throughout the game. The rookie running back out of Ohio State is rostered in 62 percent of ESPN and 49 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
