The USC Trojans are wrapping up an incredible month of hoops with a game against the Colorado Buffaloes on Thursday, another chance for coach Andy Enfield to prove how legitimate his team is heading into March.

There’s no need for USC big man Evan Mobley to prove himself any more than he already has, however, as the star freshman is a near lock to get selected among the first five picks in the 2021 NBA draft in June.

In fact, the latest first round mock draft from Nick Schwartz at USA TODAY’s Rookie Wire once again has Mobley going No. 2 overall to the Detroit Pistons – a common landing spot for the rising star.

Mobley would probably be the top pick in most drafts, but the tantalizing blend of size and athleticism from Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham has him locked into that top spot.

And while there are contenders for the No. 2 spot, namely Gonzaga point guard Jalen Suggs and a pair of G-League stars in Jonathan Kuminga and Jalen Green, it looks pretty likely that Mobley will end up as the highest drafted Trojans player of all-time when June rolls around – narrowly topping guard O.J. Mayo who went No. 3 back in 2008.
