Fantasy football waiver wire advice, Week 7: Best available RBs include Boston Scott, Gus Edwards, and Giovan… - DraftKings Nation

A few starting running backs suffered injuries in Week 6, so their backups are likely to be highly quality waiver wire targets ahead of Week 7. There are a couple situations worth monitoring and we’ve identified some of the top options with less than 50 percent ownership in Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Many fantasy managers pivoted to Joshua Kelley when Austin Ekeler went down with a hamstring injury two games ago, but Jackson played outshined the rookie in the Chargers’ first game without the starter. Jackson rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries against the Saints’ elite run defense his last time out and also caught five passes for 23 yards. He could outshine Kelley again in Week 7 if he has the hot hand.

Miles Sanders is expected to miss a week or two because of the the knee injury he suffered in Week 6. That means people will pile up on Scott once again. Scott was underwhelming as a starter in Week 1 and only tallied 35 rushing yards on nine carries. He could improve upon that mark if Philadelphia doesn’t take a back-by-committee approach in Week 7.

Mark Ingram’s ankle injury isn’t considered to be serious but Edwards is most likely to assume the lion’s share of the carries if the starter misses time. He led the Ravens with 14 carries and scored a touchdown in Week 6. While he only tallied 26 rushing yards against Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh Steelers are up next. He probably do much for your fantasy team if he doesn’t score in Week 7.

Joe Mixon is among the league leaders in touches and there’s no timetable for his return following the foot injury he suffered in Week 6. Bernard might only have 12 carries on the season, but he tallied eight of those in his last outing and managed to score a rushing touchdown while also hauling in three passes. I don’t expect him to become a workhorse, but his role will increase significantly for as long as Mixon is out.

McKissic remains second to Antonio Gibson on the depth chart but remains very involved in Washington’s offense. He rushed for 41 yards and caught six passes for 45 yards in Week 6 and has been targeted at least six times in three straight games. He won’t be a workhorse, but his versatility gives him a chance to boom by scoring a touchdown.

Gore is far from a good fantasy player, but he’s consistent and you can count on him to get touches. He’s cracked 10 carries in four of his last five games and caught a season-high four passes in Week 6 during New York’s blowout loss to the Dolphins. He has no real competition with Le’Veon Bell gone. Here’s to hoping he can find the end zone at least once this season.

This is more of a deep league play and will only be worth doing if Raheem Mostert is ruled out for Week 7. Mostert’s history of lower body injuries has continued to plague him in 2020 and Jerick McKinnon was primarily used as a pass catching back when Mostert got hurt in Week 6. Tevin Coleman (knee) is still on the IR and Jeff Wilson is battling a calf injury. Hasty only trailed Mostert in carries on Sunday with nine for 37 yards and could get involved early if the 49ers have limited depth at running back.
