Fantasy football is here! We here at Buckeyes Wire decided it would be an interesting idea to create a fantasy league where we only select players from the Big Ten conference. We have three writers on staff and we went through a 16 round draft where the team with the highest score at the end of the season wins.
The following is a breakdown of the rosters by position with the round they were selected in. It is important to remember when judging our selections that Mark Russell had the first pick, our fearless leader and publisher Phil Harrison had the second selection, and I brought it up the rear with the third pick.
Here are how things shook out and the three teams that will be battling it out for a prize to yet be determined, though with budget constraints it may be a good ‘ole “go get ’em.”
Remember, follow us throughout the football season to see who is on their way to fantasy football world domination Big Ten football style.
Mark Russell
Mark Russell’s Roster
QB: Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland (6th)
QB: Graham Mertz, Wisconsin (9th)
RB: Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota (1st Round Pick)
RB: Tyler Goodson, Iowa (2nd)
RB: Noah Cain, Penn State (7th)
RB: Miyan Williams, Ohio State (12th)
RB: Chase Brown, Illinois (16th)
WR: Garrett Wilson, Ohio State (3rd)
WR: Ty Fryfogle, Indiana (4th)
WR: Rakim Jarrett, Maryland (5th)
WR: Julian Fleming, Ohio State (15th)
TE Sam LaPorta, Iowa (10th)
TE Peyton Hendershot, Indiana (13th)
K Zach Hoover, Ohio State (11th)
DST Ohio State (8th)
DST Penn State (14th)
Mark made a wise decision snagging Mohamed Ibrahim as he is far and away the best fantasy running back in the Big Ten. Ibrahim earned 200 carries last season in just seven games and there is no sign of that production slowing down.
In the third round, Mark selected Garrett Wilson and after David Bell and Chris Olave went off the board, Wilson was clearly the best available. Wilson started last season hot with 31 receptions for 512 yards and four touchdowns with a healthy average of 16.5 yards per reception in the first four games. He failed to maintain that elite production throughout the rest of the season, but he is an elite playmaker that could accomplish that production this season.
In the very next round, Mark snagged another receiving star in Ty Fryfogle. He was top five in the Big Ten in targets with 70, receiving yards with 721, and touchdowns with seven. It is reasonable to expect Fryfogle to maintain that impressive production.
No. 11 in my #CFBTop50
Minnesota RB Mohamed Ibrahim
It's crazy how underrated he is in the country. Rushed for 1,076 yards and 15 touchdowns in seven games without two of his best linemen. pic.twitter.com/jsaPNfgVJj

How it all went down
With the second pick in the first round, our fearless leader shows no fear by drafting a quarterback with zero pass attempts in their collegiate career. This may seem like a bold strategy, but C.J. Stroud is clearly head and shoulders the best fantasy quarterback option in the Big Ten. At the very least we know that Stroud is a pure dual threat as evidenced by his lone 48-yard touchdown run last season.
Phil doubled up on Buckeyes and snagged the number one Ohio State receiver in Chris Olave in round two. In just seven games last season Olave snagged 50 receptions for 729 yards and seven touchdowns. Grabbing the starting Ohio State quarterback and their number one receiver may take this team to the championship.
Cam Porter was Phil’s second running back taken, but he is likely going to be his best. Northwestern utilized Porter a ton during their last three games and gave him 73 carries which he turned into 301 yards and four touchdowns. If he can continue that production he may be the best in the Big Ten.
Ryan Day says C.J. Stroud has started to separate from the pack at quarterback, though Ohio State is not officially naming him the starter yet.

Josh Keatley
Josh Keatley’s Roster
QB: Michael Penix Jr., Indiana (4th)
QB: Jack Plummer, Purdue (14th)
RB: Master Teague III, Ohio State (2nd)
RB: Jalen Berger, Wisconsin (3rd)
RB: TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State (12th)
RB: Hassan Haskins, Michigan (13th)
WR: David Bell, Purdue (1st)
WR: Chris Autman-Bell, Minnesota (5th)
WR: Parker Washington, Penn State (6th)
WR: Bo Melton, Rutgers (7th)
WR: Milton Wright, Purdue (11th)
WR: Samori Toure, Nebraska (15th)
WR: Dontay Demus Jr., Maryland (16th)
TE Jake Ferguson, Wisconsin (8th)
DST Iowa (9th)
K Jake Seibert, Ohio State (10th)
How it all went down
I selected David Bell in the first round and I feel that he is far and away the best fantasy receiver in not just the Big Ten, but the entire country. The Purdue offense goes through Bell. He is the number one option in an offense that throws it 64.5% of the time, which is second in the country.
Even with all of the rumors surrounding the running back position, I have no regrets about snagging Master Teague in the second. Even in a running back by committee situation last season, Teague still ran for 514 yards and eight touchdowns on 104 carries.
I went running back again in the third round by snagging the up-and-coming young gun out of Wisconsin in Jalen Berger. Despite being second fiddle to start last season, Berger earned the lion’s share of the carries as the season went on. He also missed a few contests due to COVID-19 but was still able to run for 301 yards and two touchdowns on just 60 carries.
