Week 16 fantasy football waiver wire: What to do with Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Michael Gallup more on injury re… - DraftKings Nation

Fantasy football playoffs are in full steam and championship week will soon be upon us. We saw some significant injuries in Week 15, with notable names going down at one point or another. Their absences could change the fantasy football landscape significantly in Week 16 and we’ve identified some players you should keep an eye on when evaluating who the top waiver-wire targets should be for next week.

RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Chiefs

The Chiefs running back went down in the fourth quarter and it was announced as a hip/leg injury. He was helped off the field by two trainers and went straight to the locker room rather than to the sideline. He looked to be in a good deal of pain, although the x-rays came back negative after the game. The Chiefs are rolling atop the AFC and have a good backup situation, so he could be a decent bet to miss Week 16. Le’Veon Bell would replace him, although he seemed to get hurt when he was dragged down by his face mask. We’ll keep an eye on Bell’s status.

RB Raheem Mostert, 49ers

Mostert injured his ankle in the third quarter and never returned to the game. It is possible he aggravated the high ankle sprain he suffered earlier in the year. Given the 49ers were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday, he might be done for the season. Jeff Wilson would replace him as the lead back. Wilson appeared to get hurt a couple plays after Mostert, but returned to the game.

RB James Robinson, Jaguars

Robinson injured his ankle and was announced as questionable to return. He did not return and Dare Ogunbowale handled the workload to close out the blowout loss. If Robinson misses Week 16, Ogunbowale would likely get the start against a Bears defense that entered Week 15 giving up the sixth fewest fantasy points to the running back position.

WR Michael Gallup, Cowboys

Gallup injured his hip and did not return. It was described as a strain and will be something to watch as the Cowboys begin preparations for next Sunday’s game against the Eagles. Amari Cooper already sees plenty of work, so we could see CeeDee Lamb get a bump in looks if Gallup is limited or can’t play next week.
