Minnesota has had some thrilling and memorable games against the Saints over the years.

From Brett Favre and the Vikings losing in overtime, to the “Minneapolis Miracle,” to Minnesota getting the better of New Orleans in overtime last season — there have been plenty of big-time games to between these two.

But if this game is to be thrilling, it will probably lack memorability, due to the low stakes. Minnesota is pretty much out of playoff contention, so really the team is just playing spoiler on Christmas day.

There’s still a chance Minnesota can win, of course. Here are the Vikings Wire staff predictions:

The Vikings have played the Saints close over the years, but this is a bad Minnesota team and a good New Orleans team. The Saints defense will be stout in the run game. The New Orleans will do enough against a struggling Minnesota defense. Saints 24, Vikings 17.

Just what every Vikings fan wanted, a game in New Orleans on Christmas day. At this point it’s unlikely the Vikings make the playoffs and this game is going to put the season to rest. The defense is just too banged up and it’s time to start looking towards 2021 and the NFL Draft. There’s a bright future for this team but a Christmas win seems unlikely. Saints 31 Vikings 24
