The Chiefs and Eagles are less than 24-hours away from kicking off their Week 4 matchup at Lincoln Financial Field.

We caught up with Charles Goldman, the managing editor for The Chiefs Wire, for five burning questions.

1. Piggybacking off of your question to me, the Chiefs and Eagles are both 1-2, but only one of these teams can truly still have Super Bowl aspirations? What’s been the biggest problem for the offensive juggernaut in Kansas City? Can you still aspire to be a Super Bowl contender after this start?

There is still plenty of season left, but the Chiefs have left themselves little room for error if they’re going to reach the Super Bowl again. The problem is two-pronged, with the offense’s uncharacteristic turnovers being at the forefront of their past two losses. They need to have a better respect for the football moving forward, both ball-carriers and passers, if they’re going to get back on the right track. As for the defense, a lot of their struggles can be boiled down to poor communication. Injuries are compounding issues in the secondary and their best linebacker, Willie Gay Jr., hasn’t yet returned from injured reserve due to a toe injury.

What can an athletic quarterback (Jalen Hurts) with shortcomings and limited arm strength, learn and take from the way Patrick Mahomes plays the game?

I think he can certainly take a few things away from how Mahomes extends plays and manipulates defenders with his eyes. The most powerful tool that quarterbacks have and young quarterbacks seldom use is their eyes. Even when he looks to scramble, Mahome is always finding ways to make defenders think he’s still going to throw the ball. Really, Hurts is going to have to master the minutiae of the quarterback position if he wants to stick around and play a long time.

3. Why is Andy Reid still among the best in the business after all these years?

The secret is definitely in his unbreakable commitment to cheeseburgers. In all seriousness, though, Reid puts a lot of trust in people. Be it players, coaching staff, front office, or whomever, Reid’s biggest strength is that he believes in all of those people and their ability to contribute to team success and goals. Then, of course, there’s his commitment to being at the pinnacle of offensive creativity. He’s always looking for new plays and advantages that he can create on offense.

4. Will Tyrann Mathieu roam on Sunday or play an integral role in containing Zach Ertz and or Dallas Goedert?

He’ll probably roam because that’s where he’s at his best, but it’s worth noting that the Chiefs are dealing with some injuries in the secondary. Rashad Fenton, who is the team’s primary backup for nickel and outside situations, has been ruled out with a concussion. Charvarius Ward, who is the team’s starting left cornerback, is questionable with a quad injury. If the Chiefs have more injuries at that position, you might see Mathieu playing nickel corner full-time during this matchup.

Who wins and why?

I can’t say that I’m without doubts, but I do think this is the week that the Chiefs get their season back on track. I think offense plays a relatively clean game compared to previous weeks. Defensively, they should be able to get some pressure against a banged up Philly O-Line. I think the 7.5-point line might be selling the Eagles a bit short, though. Chiefs 28, Eagles 24
