The New York Giants head to town this weekend to face off against the Seahawks in Seattle. Ahead of the matchup, Seahawks Wire answered five questions for New York fans posed by Giants managing editor, Dan Benton.

The Seahawks started the season 5-0 but have gone 3-3 over their last six games with each of those contests determined by 10 points or less. What has changed over the past month and a half?

Well, injuries are the most obvious answer. Seattle was down a number of starters, including running back Chris Carson and safety Jamal Adams. Truth be told, however, it was during that time period that quarterback Russell Wilson posted some of his worst outings, assuredly ending his MVP campaign for this season.

DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are obviously big-play, game-breaking receivers, but there is a sharp decline in production on the depth chart behind them. Is that a testament to their level of impact or more about a drop-off in talent at the skill positions?

It has been difficult to be a wide receiver in Seattle since the Seahawks of late have been a run-first offense. But, things have changed a bit over the last couple of years now that Wilson has been allowed to “cook.” While the backup receivers might not get much attention, it’s players like David Moore who are able to sneak their way into the end zone.

Seattle is among the league leaders in team sacks, but none of their edge rushers have more than 4 on the season. How is the defense generating such consistent pressure and how much has the secondary played into that?

The Seahawks really have to credit a number of the new players on the roster this season, including Adams – who has tremendously beefed up the secondary – and defensive end, Carlos Dunlap, for their contributions. Seattle has been in the hunt for a pass rush and it’s finally starting to come to fruition late in the year. Coach Pete Carroll has had to rely on a rotation due to injuries, which is reflected in the spread of the numbers.

Who are some under-the-radar Seahawks players that Giants fans should be aware of and look out for on Sunday?

Giants fans should keep an eye on the running backs and who Seattle opts to plop in to change up the pace and spell Carson and Hyde. Also, the tight end corps is excited to step up in place of Greg Olsen and Wilson could very well turn his attention that way. Don’t overlook linebacker Jordyn Brooks who is learning quickly from veterans Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright.

How do you see this Week 13 game playing out and what is your score prediction?

The Seahawks should have no problem getting past the Giants in Week 13 regardless of who starts for New York at quarterback. Seattle wins this one 31-17 and advances to 9-3 on the season.
