Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers led his team’s rushing attack in Week 12 by rushing for 84 yards and a score against the San Francisco 49ers and followed up that performance with a strong showing against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 13. It’s difficult to predict how the Rams will go about splitting up carries each week, but Akers could be earning a larger role down the stretch in the regular season that could make him a quality Week 14 waiver wire option.
Akers ran for 72 yards and a score on 21 carries against the Cardinals. Darrell Henderson left the game in the second quarter to have a knee injury looked at but returned to rush for a score despite only getting a handful of carries. If Henderson’s injury lingers Akers could be half of a one-two punch with Malcolm Brown. Akers is only rostered in 35.2 percent of ESPN leagues and is worth considering.
