The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to face the Buffalo Bills at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 5. It’s a rematch of last season’s AFC title game and it’s happening in primetime on “Sunday Night Football.”

To learn more about Kansas City’s opponent, we spoke with managing editor Nick Wojton over at Bills Wire and asked him a few questions.

Chiefs Wire: Who is under the most pressure to get a win against Kansas City -- Sean McDermott or Josh Allen?

Bills Wire:  Have to say, fantastic question. But I’ll go with Allen. The narratives, in comparison, are simple when you get down to it. This game is as much of Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes as it is the Bills vs. the Chiefs and them both being two great AFC teams. In terms of McDermott, all we ever hear from McDermott about Andy Reid is how much he respects him and owes him for hiring McDermott back in the day. Sure, we can spin a “student vs. mentor” narrative, but Allen vs. Mahomes trumps that since they’re both two faces of the NFL now.

Chiefs Wire: The Bills are the league's No. 1 scoring defense through four games. Do you think they can keep it up against the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes?

Bills Wire:  Absolutely not, but the Bills know that. S Micah Hyde already said this, even. Per Hyde, the mindset is that the Bills know Mahomes and the Chiefs will get theirs. Whether it be a huge gain or a score. But Buffalo’s approach is that they immediately need to shake that off. Plus, the Bills defense is No. 1 after facing three-straight backup QBs… as opposed to a former MVP under center.

Chiefs Wire: How has the roster changed for the Bills since the AFC title game? Are there any new contributors Chiefs fans should know about?

Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Bills Wire: Only really a player or two. The Bills’ plan this offseason involved two main parts. First, bring the band back together. They did that, re-signing notable players such as OL Daryl Williams and LB Matt Milano (although he might be out). The second step of that process was to improve what they couldn’t do against the Chiefs: Get to the quarterback and play better along the defensive line. Two names there to know include first-round rookie Greg Rousseau and Star Lotulelei. Rousseau was said to be a “project pick,” but his play has said differently. Lotulelei was Buffalo’s lone player to opt-out due to COVID-19 last year, so while he’s not “new,” he still is in terms of last year’s matchups.

Chiefs Wire: Travis Kelce has dominated the past two matchups between the Chiefs and Bills. How do you expect Buffalo to defend him this time around?

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Bills Wire: As referenced, Milano is probably out… which on the surface is not good… but in the AFC title game, Milano did play and… that game was actually even bigger for Kelce. So having said that, it could go a multitude of ways for Buffalo.  It would be interesting to see CB Tre’Davious White on Kelce as he used to go up against Gronk when he was with the Patriots, but then who covers Tyreek Hill? A few names to watch will be Hyde as well as potentially DB Siran Neal. He’s a bigger nickel defender the Bills sometimes toss out there. Replacing Milano will be AJ Klein and I cannot see him chasing Kelce around out there.

Chiefs Wire: What's your prediction for the game?

Bills Wire: I’ll go Bills 34, Chiefs 28. And the loyal, true Chiefs Wire followers will recognize that I’m no homer since I did pick KC to advance to the Super Bowl last postseason, but the Bills are just clicking on most cylinders right now. Milano being out will hurt, but even if the Chiefs are a mile better than the teams that Buffalo’s defense has beaten up in recent weeks, they’re still playing with confidence and we all know that’s huge. Speaking of which, so is Allen. After being beaten in Week 1, he’s only played one full game. In two of the ensuing three, starters were pulled he did so well. The only one he played the length of the game? He scored five touchdowns. A lot is going right for the Bills right now, so much so, I even have to pick Buffalo in this one.
