This year won’t be quite as impressive for LSU football in the 2021 NFL Draft, for obvious reasons.

Around this time last year, the Tigers were coming off a historical season capped off with a national championship victory. They had it all — a once-in-a-lifetime quarterback in Joe Burrow, passing game genius in Joe Brady, a solid running back, an elite receiving corps — the list goes on.

This year was underwhelming for LSU, which finished with a 5-5 record. That’s not surprising though, given the amount of overhaul both the roster and the coaching staff underwent.

But there were still some star players heading into this past season, some of which ended up opting out.

Here’s a look at where Draft Wire has a pair of former LSU players going in the first two rounds of the draft:

WR Ja’Marr Chase: Round 1, No. 3 – Miami Dolphins (from HOU) WR Terrace Marshall Jr.: Round 2, No. 41 – Detroit Lions

Chase may have opted out in 2020, but undoubtedly made his presence felt while in Baton Rouge. He finished out his career with 107 receptions for 2,093 yards with 23 touchdowns.

Marshall opted out during the 2020 season, but was easily among the team’s best players on offense. He ended off his college career with 106 receptions for 1,594 yards with 23 touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see where both of these players land in April.
