Franklin Templeton is joining the direct indexing club. The large investment manager is acquiring O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, which owns direct indexer Canvas, the firm announced Sept. 30. The move is yet another in a slew of such acquisitions by major asset managers in the past two years—Vanguard of Just Invest, BlackRock of Aperio, Morgan Stanley of Parametric, Charles Schwab of Motif Investing and Goldman Sachs of Folio Financial.
