Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season is nearly over, with one game to go on Monday night.

And if you play fantasy football, you’re already planning ahead with waivers after a busy Sunday of games.

That’s what we’re here for, a roundup of some of the players you could be targeting ahead of Week 2.

Some of the names below might be taken already, but if not, there are a bunch of dudes who could change your fantasy fortunes this season. Let’s run through them, in no particular order, and we’ll update this after the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders play on Monday Night Football.

QB Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints

He threw just 20 times, but FIVE of those tosses were for touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers (did anyone see THAT coming?).

He’s not going to do that every week, but if you need some QB help, he could be someone to roster to see if he can recapture some of that 2019 magic (yes, I know he threw 30 INTs, but he was still a fantasy stud that season).

QB Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

I know. He’s not great, and the Lions aren’t great. But Detroit is going to be playing from behind A LOT, and as we saw on Sunday in a loss to the Niners, that means garbage time. And garbage time points have just as much value as non-garbage time points.

RB Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers

Here’s your No. 1 priority for the week. With Raheem Mostert injuring his knee and Trey Sermon a healthy scratch, Mitchell stepped in and ran for 104 yards and a score.

Will Sermon be active in Week 2 and steal some work if Mostert is out for a while? is JaMycal Hasty going to do the same (I kind of doubt it after he logged a single carry for a score and one catch)? Whatever. A running back like Mitchell in that offense has the possibility of huge value.

RB Mark Ingram, Houston Texans

Will the Texans have THAT kind of game the rest of the season? Maybe. But it’s clear the veteran is the lead back for Houston, which is a positive. The question will become usage when the Texans trail (and that’s still going to happen quite a bit in 2021). But he’s worth a pickup.

RB Kenneth Gainwell, Philadelphia Eagles

There were plenty of signs that he was the No. 2 back in Philly, but now we know it’s him and not Boston Scott after he had nine carries to Miles Sanders’ 15 and a score. Definitely worth a stash.

WR Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals

There was some buzz about the rookie wideout in the preseason and he delivered on Sunday with four catches for 68 yards. With Kyler Murray playing the way he was, he could end up being the No. 2 receiver in Arizona.

WR Sterling Shepard, New York Giants

Here we go again! It feels like Shepard has always been fantasy relevant but not quite a 100 percent dependable target, but the familiarity with Daniel Jones helped on Sunday with a nine-target, seven-catch, 113-yard day with a score.

WRs Tim Patrick, K.J. Hamler, Denver Broncos

The two guys who could replace the injured Jerry Jeudy in the lineup. Who could it be? I’m not sure, to be honest. But either one could be a solid third target for Teddy Bridgewater behind Courtland Sutton and Noah Fant.

WR Nelson Agholor, New England Patriots

Maybe last season’s breakout wasn’t a fluke? He wasn’t Mac Jones’ top target — that would be Jakobi Meyers, with nine looks — but he averaged 14.4 yards per catch and found the end zone.

TE Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

A deep sleeper paid off with two visits to the end zone. Given the lack of receiving weapons for the Saints, he could see a lot of volume until Michael Thomas returns.
