A driver was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Colorado Springs when and SUV ran up guy-wires attached to a power line pole.
The crash happened at about 2 p.m. near Colorado 115 and South Nevada Avenue, said Capt. Mike Smaldino, a fire department spokesman.

The driver crossed two lanes of traffic and a median before the SUV ran up the guy-wire, Smaldino said. It took emergency responders about 45 minutes to safely free the driver, through the driver’s door, from the dangling vehicle.
“There are power lines in place above,” Smaldino said.
The driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. Firefighters are working with the local power utility to ensure that the vehicle is safely extracted from the tension cables. No power lines came loose or disconnected in the incident. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
