Can the Buffalo Bills add to their win total against the Washington Football Team in Week 3?
In an effort to get more insight on the Football Team, Bills Wire chatted with Washington Football Wire managing editor Bryan Manning in this week’s behind enemy lines feature:
BM: Actually, pretty high. That’s remarkable considering where he was one year ago and his backstory. Heinicke is a gamer. There are concerns. Can he stay healthy? He is not afraid to fit the football into tight windows, even if he doesn’t have the elite arm strength of some of the game’s top passers. That can get him in trouble, as it did last week against the Giants late in the fourth quarter. We are going to learn a lot about Heinicke this week.
BM: Considerably. McLaurin has had big games against some of the NFL’s best corners. McLaurin runs precise routes, catches everything and can beat you deep. He is one of the NFL’s top wide receivers. McLaurin always finds a way to get open and had a big game in Week 2 against Giants Pro Bowl corner James Bradberry.
BM: He’s one of the best players on this team. I’ve covered Logan Thomas since his freshman season at Virginia Tech. He was supposed to be a tight end in college, but Virginia Tech needed him at quarterback. That tells you the type of athlete he is. Thomas is a hard-worker who is a natural fit at tight end. He is a respected leader who also doesn’t receive enough credit for how good of a blocker he has become. Washington wisely locked up Thomas for the foreseeable future in training camp.
BM: The Chargers beat Washington with the quick game. Justin Herbert didn’t take a lot of deep shots. LA’s goal was for Herbert to get rid of the ball quickly. He did that and the strategy worked perfectly. If the Bills do that, Washington will have a hard time stopping them. Washington has average linebackers and a secondary that’s still finding its way.
BM: Bills 24, Washington 16. I think Washington hangs in there for the most part, but the Bills are just the better football team. This is Heinicke’s first road start with Washington and it’s also against a team that has had a full week to prepare for him. Washington’s defense will be better this week, but Josh Allen will get some things right this week.
