The 2020-21 NBA season is hardly underway but there are already a few players who stand out as quality waiver wire targets at the center position. We’ve identified three players rostered in less than 50 percent of ESPN league. Here’s who you should keep an eye on if you need help in the backcourt.
Ownership percentage: 34.6 percent
Boucher is backing up Aron Baynes but appears to be a much more dangerous player. His seven-block performance against the San Antonio Spurs was complemented by 22 points and 10 boards. He’s a more versatile scorer and defender than the starting center and should have much more fantasy value all year. He won’t get seven blocks often but can stuff the stat sheet in other ways.
Ownership percentage: 5.6 percent
Biz will benefit from the absence of Cody Zeller, who is set to miss 4 to 6 weeks with a hand injury he suffered in the Hornets’ season opener. P.J. Washington is the only other option who could log significant minutes at the 5. Biyombo’s hustle plays will get him boards and his points will come with the flow of the game. He entered Wednesday shooting a ridiculous 66.7 percent from the field. Biyombo will be a double-double threat on most nights without Zeller playing
Ownership percentage: .7 percent
Roby killed in his 2020 debut by totaling 19 points with 7 rebounds. It’s clear that Al Horford won’t have a heavy workload and if he’s going to get rest days there’s a lot of value in Roby. Mike Muscala is also a name with mentioning but Roby’s athleticism and ability to take players off the dribble make him more dangerous.
