It’s been quite a journey with the Chicago Bears this season, where it’s felt at times that we’ve witnessed three separate seasons. From the 5-1 start to the six-game losing streak to the 3-1 finish that helped them lock up a playoff spot, it’s been a wild ride.

Now, the Bears are back in the postseason for the second time in three years, and they’ll be looking to keep this Cinderella story going.

While it’s certainly a good feeling having Chicago back in the playoffs, it’s hard not to wonder about the ripple effect that it’ll ultimately have on the organization when all is said and done.

Just a month ago, the Bears were coming off a brutal loss to the Detroit Lions where it appeared as if George McCaskey was going to clean house entirely. Now, Chicago is back in the playoffs, and it’s hard not to wonder if the jobs of head coach Matt Nagy, general manager Ryan Pace and president Ted Phillips are safe. Even if the Bears wind up being one and done in the postseason — again.

As the Bears head into Sunday’s contest against the Saints, host Ryan O’Leary (@RyanOLearySMG) and myself discussed how Chicago’s postseason appearance could affect their offseason and previewed Chicago’s wild-card match-up against New Orleans in the 19th episode of our Bears Wire podcast.
