Nintendo Direct for August 2020 Rumored to Be Happening Soon - GameRant

susilangs.blogspot.com

With Microsoft and Sony having extensively showcased their games for 2020 and beyond, fans are still waiting for Nintendo to reveal its new Switch titles. Fans have been anticipating a big Nintendo Direct presentation ever since E3 2020 was canceled, but so far Nintendo has opted for Mini Directs focused on indie games, as well as surprise, individual announcements. However, it seems as though Nintendo may be throwing its hat in the ring sooner rather than later.

On August 3, industry insider Jeff Grubb of VentureBeat tweeted a list of gaming events happening in August, calling it his "Summer Game Mess." About half an hour later, Grubb posted a new list that shifted some things around, most notably moving the possible Nintendo event from the end of the month to the spot between August 11's Frontier Showcase and August 22's DC FanDome event. Presumably, this means Grubb has information that a Nintendo Direct may take place at some point between those two dates, but admittedly it's also possible that we're just looking too much into this.

If Nintendo is hosting a Nintendo Direct presentation this month, it remains to be seen what the company will show. Some potentially big announcements that it could have made, like Pikmin 3 Deluxe, have already happened. However, there are some rumors that may give fans an idea of what to expect from a potential Nintendo Direct in August.

Rumors have been swirling for months that Nintendo plans on releasing a 3D Super Mario collection for the Nintendo Switch. According to reports from credible sources, the 3D Super Mario collection will include Super Mario 64Super Mario SunshineSuper Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in one package as a way to celebrate the Super Mario franchise's 35th anniversary. Furthermore, reports indicate that Nintendo is also prepping a standalone Switch port of the Wii U's critically-acclaimed Super Mario 3D World as well.

Beyond the Super Mario rumors, perhaps Nintendo will use the Nintendo Direct to reveal the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character. There have been plenty of rumors about the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character's identity, with many seeming to think that the next character will be a Pokemon of some kind.

It's also possible that Nintendo will feature some of its previously-announced Switch games that haven't had updates in awhile. This would include the likes of Bayonetta 3Metroid Prime 4, and of course, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. If Nintendo is planning to host a new Nintendo Direct presentation this month, hopefully it shares some more information sooner rather than later.
