Star Wars animation has been integral to the franchise’s history. The Clone Wars introduced the now iconic Ahsoka Tano to the world, and Star Wars: Rebels provided an important framework for projects such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order—not to mention how Ahoksa will basically act as a sequel to the show. Then, more recently, there’s The Bad Batch.
The show centers on Clone Force 99, a group of Clone Troopers with mutations that make them uniquely equipped to handle any situation. After Order 66, the squad finds themselves on the run, as they’re some of the only troopers not affected by the chips placed in the rest of their kind when they were created on Kamino.
Fans have been patiently waiting for Season 2 to arrive. It was previously reported that the series should be arriving on Disney+ come September 28–though, sadly, it seems like the show’s return may have been delayed.
Bad Batch Season 2 Delayed?
Disney+ has officially posted the service's September 2022 release slate, and there is one glaring omission: The Bad Batch Season 2.
The show's sophomore run was originally listed as premiering on September 28 back in June, so its omission here could be a sign that the show has been delayed. With D23 just around the corner, which also includes the company's Disney+ Day, it's possible they will stealth drop the premiere then.
Other explanations are that the company simply forgot to list the series, or that Andor's recent delay had a domino effect, pushing back The Bad Batch.
Bad Batch Season 2 Will Debut One Day... Hopefully
A delay for The Bad Batch would be really disappointing for fans out there. It’s been a long while since Season 1 ended last year, and needless to say, audiences are ready for more.
The previous trailer released at the Star Wars Celebration teased some pretty intense action. For one, it looks like Commander Cody will get his time in the spotlight, Scorch from Republic Commando may be hunting the Bad Batch down, and a certain Wookie Jedi may need some help.
If the series was truly delayed, maybe Lucasfilm could drop the show on Disney+ after Andor’s finale on November 23. Though, that could mean season 2 might run into 2023–if the studio happens to care about that.
Whatever they decide, hopefully, fans will be able to continue watching The Bad Batch’s journey sooner rather than later.
