The Green Bay Packers exposed some weak areas in the Minnesota Vikings’ defense in Week 1 of the NFL season.

The Vikings did not register a single sack on Aaron Rodgers as the Packers quarterback picked apart the young Minnesota secondary.

Now, the Vikings defensive line goes up against a very good Colts offensive line. Yannick Ngakoue and Ifeadi Odenigbo will have to be better about getting to the quarterback in Week 2. Or else, Philip Rivers could have himself a big day and the Vikings could be looking at starting the season 0-2.

It should be an enticing matchup Sunday. Here are Vikings Wire staff predictions for the Vikings-Colts game:

The Vikings showed red flags against the Packers, but I think Minnesota could bounce back here. I expect the young corners to be better. If the Vikings can find a rhythm in the passing game, they could pull away. Vikings 28, Colts 17.

The Vikings’ pass defense was really bad against the Packers. There’s no disputing that. But that was against Aaron Rodgers. Philip Rivers is not Aaron Rodgers. Give me the Vikings in what Vegas considers an upset. Vikings 27, Colts 20.

I think Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen have a day against an old friend in Xavier Rhodes. The offense is going to have to get more people involved this week and I think we might also see more of Justin Jefferson against the Colts. The secondary didn’t get any help from the pass rush last week and that needs to change this week. However, the Colts have a good offensive line so that could make things complicated. The defense will have to force a couple turnovers like they did last year against Phillip Rivers. The Colts will hang on similarly to how the Vikings did last week, but I think the Vikings end up on top by ten. Vikings 31, Colts 21.

This is a really tough choice because both teams are desperate to get into the win column. I think it comes down to the wire but I ultimately have the Colts pulling this one out by the skin of their teeth because their defense is slightly better than the Vikings’ defense. Colts, 23, Vikings 21.
