The Cincinnati Bengals play a bit of an unknown in the form of the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.

To get a closer look at the NFC East foe, we sat down with Glenn Erby of Eagles Wire for a back and forth about the upcoming game and its surrounding circumstances.

Bengals Wire: What’s the main thing the Eagles have to fix to get back on track and out of an 0-2 hole?

Eagles Wire: Several things will help this team get into the win column but they simply need to play a complete game on both sides of the ball. The focus this week should be on feeding RB Miles Sanders while allowing QB Carson Wentz to ease into the flow of the game. On defense, the linebackers need to communicate, and now would be an amazing time for the Eagles defensive front to dominate an opponent.

Bengals Wire: Carson Wentz seems to be regressing -- is it mechanical? Mental? Something else?

Eagles’ Carson Wentz (11) hangs his head after throwing an interception against the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, at Lincoln Financial Field. The Rams defeated the Eagles 37-19.

Eagles Wire: Some of it’s mechanical and the majority of it is just Wentz pressing and trying to make every play. We can talk all we want about the pandemic impacting all 32 NFL teams, but it’s very telling that almost 40% of his passes thus far have gone to TE’s Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Look for Doug Pederson to get Wentz outside the pocket on designed rollouts while helping him get confident early with some easy throws.

Bengals Wire: There’s a lot of talent on the Eagles defense so the struggles so far are surprising. What’s been the biggest culprit?

Eagles Wire: Fletcher Cox is battling an abdomen injury and now would be the right week for the defensive front as a whole to get pressure on a Bengals offensive front that is among the league leaders in pressure allowed. On the backend, Nate Gerry has to do a better job of communicating and putting guys in a better position to succeed. Look for Jim Schwartz to play more safeties in place of linebackers, thus eliminating some of the Week 2 mismatches.

Bengals Wire: Whose the one under-the-radar player Bengals fans need to keep an eye out for this weekend?

Eagles Wire: That would have to be J.J. Arcega-Whitside although he’s definitely not under the radar entering Week 3 of his second season without a catch. With Jalen Reagor out (thumb) and Alshon Jeffery still, two weeks away from returning, it’ll be imperative on Arcega-Whiteside to make his presence known early on and often.

Bengals Wire: How do you see this one playing out?

Eagles Wire: The Eagles simply need this game more than the upstart Bengals and with Carson Wentz tired of the noise, he puts on a clinic as Philadelphia rides Miles Sanders and their efficient quarterback to a 24-13 win at home.
