SOLON, Ohio -- Theft: Glenallen Avenue

At 1:35 p.m. April 26, a man, 70, reported that he was contacted on the phone by someone posing as a Direct TV employee offering him a promotional deal. The man accepted the deal and sent a check for $129.99 to the address given him.

The man then called Direct TV and was told the promotion of which he was told did not exist. Upon learning this, the man sought to cancel his check, but learned that it had already been cashed.

OVI: S.O.M. Center Road

At 4 p.m. April 24, a motorist reported seeing an erratic driver on S.O.M. Center Road. An officer located the car and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a Twinsburg man, 42, was found to be impaired. Also in the car were the man’s children, a boy, 6, and a girl, 3.

The man was arrested on charges of OVI and child endangering. The results of a urine test are pending.

OVI: S.O.M. Center Road

At 4:25 a.m. April 24, an officer stopped a car for marked lanes and headlight violations. It was subsequently learned that the driver, a Twinsburg woman, 27, was intoxicated. The woman had a blood-alcohol content of .107, above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08.

Police charged the woman with OVI and having a BAC greater than .08. The woman was also cited for the traffic and equipment violations.

Failure to maintain physical control: Enterprise Parkway

At 5:05 p.m. April 24, a motorist called police after seeing a man asleep behind the wheel of his truck, its motor running, on Enterprise Parkway. The man had been asleep for about 45 minutes.

The driver, a New Jersey man, 51, was found to be intoxicated. The man had a BAC of .212. Police charged the man with failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and having a BAC greater than .17.

Identity theft: South Side Park Drive

On April 24, two women who live at separate addresses on South Side Park Drive reported that suspects used their identities to obtain state unemployment benefits.

On April 27, a Birkdale Court woman also made such a report.

Warrant arrest: US 422

At 10:25 a.m. April 25, an officer stopped a car for speeding. It was then learned that the driver, a Cleveland man, 27, was driving without a valid license, and was wanted on a Cleveland police warrant for assault.

The man was cited for speeding and the license offenses, and arrested on the warrant.

Theft: Solon Industrial Parkway

At 1:45 p.m. April 27, a Euclid man, 30, an employee at Anchor Industries, 30775 Solon Industrial Parkway, reported that he had dropped, while at his workplace, his U.S. government stimulus check. When the man went back to look for the check, it was gone.

Police watched surveillance video and saw a fellow worker, a Cleveland man, 19, pick up the check and put it in his pocket. An officer called the suspect, who returned the check to its owner. No charges were filed.
