Actor and filmmaker Stephen Moyer has set his sophomore feature directing effort with TriStar Pictures' Möbius.
Based on the short story “Life on the Möbius Strip," the project is described as a musical love story with cosmic reach. Janna Levin penned and performed the story for The Moth in collaboration with the World Science Festival, and it was later published as the opening piece in the show’s anthology, The Moth: 50 True Stories.
The short tells the true story of Levin, a renowned American cosmologist, and British musician, Warren Malone, and their unexpected relationship, which forces them to confront issues of class, culture and the powerful connection between science and art. Tom Dean is set to adapt for the screen.
Lynda Obst (Interstellar) will produce with Nick Wechsler (Magic Mike). For the studio, Shary Shirazi will oversee the project, which is in development.
Onscreen, Moyer is best known for his role in the HBO series True Blood, which is where he began his directing career by helming several episodes. He made his feature directing debut with the drama The Parting Glass, which was released by Sony and found critical success, earning a 100 percent freshness rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. In its review, The Hollywood Reporter called the movie "a tender, searing story of death and dying." Moyer is repped by ICM, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Brecheen Feldman.
Dean is repped by UTA and Circle of Confusion, Obst is repped by Felker Toczek, and Wechsler is repped by Goodman Genow.
