The Houston Texans start their 2020 season where their playoff run ended in January.

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV two games later after knocking off Houston 51-31 in the AFC divisional playoffs. The Texans seek to spoil the Chiefs’ Super Bowl title defense in Game 1 of the NFL’s 101st season.

To preview the showdown, Charles Goldman, managing editor of the Chiefs Wire, returns to help preview the playoff matchup.

Texans Wire: Is there any Super Bowl hangover or contract extension hangover?

Charles Goldman: This team has been talking about running it back and winning another ring — or several — from the moment Super Bowl LIV ended. I think the one thing the Chiefs have going for them is that the COVID-19 impacted offseason hasn’t allowed them to get trapped in the celebration tour that typically comes with winning a Super Bowl. They were on lockdown and focusing on 2020 before they could get stuck in party mode. I don’t anticipate that they see any ill-effects like a hangover. If anything, they should be most worried about have a target on their back and getting everyone’s best shot for the entirety of the season.
