SARASOTA, Fla. -- Daredevil Nik Wallenda performed in his hometown of Sarasota on Friday night.
He held a Daredevil Rally at Nathan Benderson Park.
Dozens gathered inside and around their cars to watch him perform on a high wire. The crowd was encouraged to practice social distancing.
He wanted to give people live entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"He really puts it out there, puts his life on the line, but shows that you can do anything you want if you set your mind to it," said Dale Oswalt, who attended the show.
Wallenda walked a high wire with his cousin, Blake Wallenda.
Performers included FMX freestyle jumpers, BMX riders, motorcycles in a steel cage and a human cannonball.
"I am an entertainer and that's in my blood for 200 years and seven generations. This is what I love doing. It's my passion, entertaining and not only entertaining but inspiring," said Nik.
Nik Wallenda has performed in every state in the United States and all over the world. He has earned 11 Guinness World Records.
His high wire walks have been seen by millions of live viewers in network television specials on ABC, The Discovery Channel and others.
He walked a high wire across the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls. In March, he walked over an active volcano in Nicaragua.
"My great-grandfather said it best when he said 'life is on the wire and everything else is just waiting' so my wire is a wire, but everybody has that...everybody is passionate about something," said Wallenda.
Wallenda will perform on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14.
He will also perform on June 18, 19, 20 and 21.
