As our area is faced with ongoing changes due to a growing pandemic, we are bringing stories of people doing good in the community during a time of uncertainty.

Help us look for the helpers!

Home Theater

Kids are having Zoom rehearsals of the musicals Wicked and Descendants 3.

Students of the Adderley School, a nonprofit dedicated to helping kids develop their talents regardless of their economic situation, are proof that the show must go on!

Because of COVID-19, the performing arts school has transitioned to an online format called Adderley at Home.

Adderley has had to cancel dozens of theater performances affecting hundreds of kids. The school has locations in Santa Barbara, Pacific Palisades and Austin, Texas.

The school says it needs donations to continue to help kids reach their potential.

Virtual Dance Party

One of the most popular places to work out in Santa Barbara is hosting a virtual worldwide workout and dance party this weekend.

Bond Fitness is hosting Bond Aid 2. It will be streamed live on their Instagram page.

The goal is to bring people together from around the world while raising money for World Central Kitchen.

The organization is feeding people right here at home and across the country during COVID-19.

Bond Fitness instructors are getting their moves ready and they are trying to spread the word and are hoping to get 20,000 people to join the fun!

"We're going to work out, we're going to have a dance party and we are going to support those in hunger and in need. Love you guys, let's do this," said Jenny Schatzle of Bond Fitness

Bond Aid 2 is this Saturday at 9 a.m. on Instagram. It's for all levels and you don't need any equipment.

Celebrity Relief

Big names continue to throw their support behind Santa Barbara-based Direct Relief.

Music icon Barbra Streisand posted a video on Twitter asking people to donate to the organization.

And the UFC, the world's top mixed martial arts sports company, is selling masks with all of the proceeds going to direct relief to support its work fighting COVID-19.

Direct Relief says more than 4 million masks, 2.8 million gloves, 100,000 gowns and nearly 10,000 deliveries of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medications have left the warehouse since January.
