When is the next Nintendo Direct?

Although it’s not officially confirmed, the latest Nintendo Direct leak indicates that the next one is coming on June 29th. The main source for this rumour is Alanah Pearce, who used to work for IGN.
Recently, Pearce swapped the role of being a reporter for IGN to being part of Santa Monica Studio. This studio is part of Sony, and they help to develop video games. So, it seems this source of this Nintendo Direct leak is pretty reliable.
Pearce was streaming on Twitch when someone asked her about the next Nintendo Direct. This is what she had to say:
“Is there a Nintendo Direct announced? No, but I believe there is a Nintendo Direct coming on the 29th. I don’t know that that’s been announced. You heard it here first. Let me check what day it is. I have it written down. 29th. Yeah, June 29th, Nintendo Direct. It’s not technically a leak because Nintendo didn’t tell me, which is how I make that call. But I’m not leaking anything in it.”
If that isn’t enough confirmation that the Direct is coming, then we don’t know what is!
Nintendo Direct Leak – What to Expect

If the rumours of this Nintendo Direct leak, it would make sense for it to be happening now. After all, there are a bunch of games that we know Nintendo are working on. We already know that Nintendo is set to release Xenoblade Chronicles 3 at the end of July. So, having a Direct a month before this would be a great way to show off more of the gameplay.
Similarly, Splatoon 3 is coming on September 9th. That might seem like a while away, but Nintendo usually only has around 3 Directs in a year. The first one was in February, and Nintendo will likely hold another one shortly before Christmas. As such, the date from this Nintendo Direct leak would be the perfect time to give some more details about the game.
It’s also possible that we’ll get some information about Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet during this rumoured Nintendo Direct. Nintendo dropped a trailer for the game just a few weeks ago, and we are excited to see more of it. However, since it’s not coming out until November, Nintendo might wait until later to reveal more.
Even if they don’t talk about Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet during the date of this alleged Nintendo Direct leak, there are still plenty of other possibilities. Unfortunately, the sequel to Breath of the Wild has been pushed back to 2023.
Other rumored games

However, there’s speculation that Nintendo will release some other Zelda content in the meantime. Namely, a re-release of The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the Switch. The Wind Waker came out as an HD port for the Wii-U in 2013, whilst Nintendo released the Twilight Princess remaster in 2016. There have been rumours for a while that these ports were coming, especially since we got Skyward Sword last year.
We could also get some info about Bayonetta 3, which is rumoured to release this year. It’s been eight years since the last entry in the Bayonetta series. As such, a Nintendo Direct would be a great opportunity to show off a playable demo or perhaps a deep dive into the gameplay.
Also, 2022 marks an important year for another franchise. It’s 20 years since Metroid Prime came out, so Nintendo will likely celebrate this anniversary somehow. Perhaps, if this Nintendo Direct leak ends up being true, we’ll find out a remastered Switch version.
What do you think? Will you tune into this alleged Nintendo Direct? What are you most looking forward to seeing? Let us know in the comments!
