New agreement provides direct path to UW-Madison business degree - Madison Area Technical College

Madison College students studying liberal arts or business management will have a direct path to complete a bachelor’s degree in business with UW–Madison Online, thanks to new transfer agreements that guarantee admission into select Wisconsin School of Business online programs for students who meet the requirements.

“We are pleased to partner with Madison College so that more students can benefit from a business education,” says Wisconsin School of Business Dean Vallabh “Samba” Sambamurthy. “Business graduates are highly sought-after, and these programs will help students launch into meaningful careers.”

A press conference and agreement signing event will take place at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, on the Madison College Truax campus.

Many students have already found success in transferring from Madison College to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dan Barry transferred from Madison College and is currently getting his Bachelor of Business Administration in management from UW–Madison Online.

“The transfer experience from Madison College to UW–Madison was excellent,” says Barry, who holds a management role at a publicly traded real estate investment trust. “I hope that my academics will provide future opportunities to advance into a higher-level management or director role.”

With the new agreement, Madison College students who earn an associate degree in liberal arts –economics and pre-business or in business management, complete a declaration of intent with a Madison College advisor, meet specified levels of academic achievement at Madison College and meet requirements for admission to UW–Madison will be directly admitted into a UW–Madison Online business degree program.

“This transfer agreement with UW–Madison’s online school of business programs is a groundbreaking agreement that will provide our students further options to continue their postsecondary education in business and reach their professional goals,” said Jack Daniels, president of Madison College. “Congratulations to our staff and the staff of UW–Madison Online and the Wisconsin School of Business for developing this agreement and solidifying our partnership.”

Transfer students with an associate degree in liberal arts – economics and pre-business can choose to earn their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in management, marketing or human resources through UW–Madison Online and the Wisconsin School of Business. Transfer students with an associate degree in business management can earn their online BBA in management.

Additional UW–Madison schools and colleges as well as other two-year colleges will be involved in future agreements to increase access for students who want to earn their bachelor’s degree online.
