COLONIE - Delta Air Lines is set to begin its new non-stop service from Albany International Airport to New York's LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday, at 11:50 am.
The new flight, which sported one-way fares as low as $124, is part of an expansion, both by Delta and by choices that travelers have when departing the Albany airport.
Going forward, Delta will offer two outbound and inbound flights to and from LaGuardia. Travelers headed to the New York City airport will now be able to make direct connections from there to 32 different locations.
Delta on Wednesday is also debuting a new flight from LaGuardia to Providence, R.I. and will this month bring back a shuttle served between New York City and Boston.
From LaGuardia, Delta will also be reaching Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Pensacola, Fla.
Delta later this year plans to add new service routes from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Burlington, Vt., and Asheville, N.C., according to The Points Guy travel website.
The new LaGuardia flights come two months after Frontier and American airlines added direct flights to Miami, Fla. Those flights aren’t daily, however. Florida is the most popular destination for travelers leaving the Albany airport.
Frontier also flies nonstop to Orlando, Fla. as well as Denver, which is where the airline is based.
